Sasha’s eleven years of operations and accounting experience has prepared her well for managing the growing and innovative operations of CleanFish. Her interest in sustainability began at the age of 12 when she founded her middle school’s first green team, The Planet Patrol. She went on to lead nature trail tours for a local youth education program during her high school years before entering the business world. CleanFish is proud to have converted Sasha to a seafood lover.

Karim Machi — Poissonnier + Resident Frenchman

Favorite dish: MS Sea Dog — an MSC certified JC David cold smoked herring fillet in a warm Hot Dog Bun with mayonnaise (not light) and sliced onions that marinated at least overnight in herring oil. Yum?

With his authentic French charm and a cooler full of fresh seafood samples, our evangelist Karim is building a community of devoted CleanFish chefs and other true believers. His enlightened perspective and 18 years as a trusted fishmonger for Yum Yum Fish in San Francisco are a combination in perfect alignment with our mission. What’s more, Karim regularly spoils the San Francisco office with spontaneous gourmet lunches featuring fish we can trust.

Kendrick Wu — Bay Area Street Dealer

Favorite dish: Cod fish and chips

Another recovering seafood commodity broker, Kendrick joined CleanFish because he believed there was a better way to do business in the seafood industry. An Oakland native, Kendrick makes the connection between the seafood he sells and the sustainable practices behind them through customer education with distributors across Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.

With seven years of experience focused on shrimp sales with a major seafood producer and importer, he is also our resident shrimp expert. There’s no end to his knowledge of the ins and outs of this intricate and ever-controversial industry, making Kendrick great conversation at coffee breaks.

Kelsi Boyle — DesignMonger

Favorite dish: Peruvian Lantern Scallops (gulp after delicious gulp...)

Known on the high seas as “she who makes things pretty,” Kelsi is CleanFish’s resident designer, photographer and filmmaker. In addition to her love of all things Adobe, she has a passion for supporting mission-driven businesses, having spent two years at Investors’ Circle funneling investment into fledgling companies doing good for the world. Kelsi also acted as Marketing Manager for a women’s weaving cooperative in rural Peru, helping to sustain a treasured culture and traditional way of life.

Kelsi is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara with degrees in Sociology, Anthropology, and Women’s Studies, and has a fun time bringing her feminist views to the seafood industry. An avid biker, you can find her zipping up and down the hills of San Francisco, tweeting and blogging all the way. And every second Saturday of the month, you can find her at our Ferry Building booth sneaking samples of Peruvian Lantern Scallops… her favorite!

Michelle Challey — Cruise Director

Favorite dish: Anything that she doesn’t actually have to cook herself! Besides that, Coquilles San Jacques is a favorite...

Michelle has over 20 years of experience in the seafood industry and hails from Ontario, Canada. She grew up near the water and loves the salty ocean air — maybe it’s the reason she has been naturally drawn to seafood. Michelle’s father introduced her to smelts early on in life and (despite that) she still enjoys seafood!

Michelle formally began her seafood career with Stolt Sea Farm in Toronto and spent well over a decade there in a variety of roles, focused mainly on salmon, which brought her to Seattle, Upstate New York and Connecticut. Over the past 8 years Michelle has worked for several different companies, most notably Bluecadia Aquaculture specializing in farm-raised shrimp from Belize. Most recently, she has been working out of her home office selling salmon, Bronzini, Dorade and many other seafood products for a good friend at Universal Seafood based in the Fulton Fish Market.

Michelle is an avid gardener, enjoys playing and coaching kids soccer (or proper “football”), spending time with her family and travelling anywhere warm and sunny. Her husband often jokes that she is happiest in places embraced by lizards… hot, dry, sandy and sunny!

Justin Harrison — Accounts Receivable

Favorite dish: Kippers. Rotten kippers.

Abandoned as a babe in 1967, Justin was adopted by a kindly tribe of gypsies who found him wrapped in psychedlic swaddling cloth weeping gently beneath a 15 foot inflatable fluffy Easter bunny outside the local flea market. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1989 as a result of The Great Nintendo Famine that had devestated England. Justin is finally finding peace as CleanFish's Accounts Receivable clerk, a lifelong pursuit made reality.
